Our children’s program is family-centered and tailored to each child’s unique needs. While we guide the therapy, families guide us in understanding their child. We blend different treatment techniques to provide the right motor and sensory input, supporting progress and driving neuroplasticity. We believe that every child is unique, therefore we do not take a “one size fits all” approach to our kids program. By combining different treatment techniques, we can build programs that fit the child’s specific needs and goals.
There are no limits to what your child can achieve. We support you with education and simple, practical strategies that fit naturally into your daily routine.
Dynamic Movement Intervention (DMI) is a therapy used to help children with developmental delays. It uses gravity to trigger automatic body movements and helps the brain form new connections. The main goal is to get the child’s body to respond in a certain way to specific movements or tasks. This therapy is very effective in learning new motor skills such as sitting, crawling, standing, and walking!
Our sensory processing program is designed to harness the brain’s ability to adapt, rewire, and grow. When someone struggles with processing sensory input, such as sensitivity to lights, sounds, movement, or textures, this can affect focus, learning, and everyday activities. Our program strengthens the pathways that connect the body and brain which can determine how we process and move within the environment.
Astronaut Training is our primary therapy for improving the vestibular system, which plays a crucial role in balance, coordination, and body awareness by helping the brain understand head position and movement. This system works closely with the senses of touch, proprioception, vision, and hearing to support how we move, look, and listen. A poorly developed vestibular system, often caused by limited movement in infancy due to hospital stays, low muscle tone, or unintegrated reflexes can lead to challenges in motor skills, learning, attention, emotions, and daily tasks.
The TheraSuit Program uses intensive exercise, reflex integration, and a special suit to help retrain the nervous system. It works by providing constant sensory feedback, which helps the brain form new connections. This feedback, or sensory input, acts as the “language” of the nervous system. For the body to learn and recover specific movements, these sensory signals must be clear, specific, and accurate.
Theratogs are used to improve postural control by increasing tactile input and compressing the trunk for postural support. The elastic straps are strategically placed on the client to address the specific postural and functional needs. This increases body awareness and activates the somatosensory system. Theratogs are used in combination with our other therapies to help promote change for children with neuromotor dysfunction.
The cage is equipped with additional supports and accessories such as harnesses, straps, and padding. These adaptations help provide stability, postural support, and proper alignment during exercises. The customization options enable therapists to create a safe and comfortable environment while addressing the unique needs of each child. This allows the child to perform balance, jumping and strengthening exercises with proper alignment. In doing so we can focus on improving strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, and overall motor skills in children.
Hippotherapy uses the movement of riding a horse as a tool to engage sensory, neuromotor and cognitive systems to promote neuroplasticity. The pelvic movement that occurs when sitting on a horse, mimics the pelvic movement during walking. By exposing children to this movement, they are able to improve their strength, muscle coordination and sensory processing used for walking. Hippotherapy offers physical benefits, helps with sensory integration, improved core strength and stability as well as helps facilitate motor skill development.
Whole body vibration can have many benefits for children and is used in combination with our main modalities. Vibration can help reduce spasticity and pain, improve motor function and strength, enhance balance and proprioception, and increase blood circulation. It is also beneficial for regulating the nervous system and sensory integration. Our hypervibe can be used in seated, laying down, kneeling, hands and knees, and standing.
